Since her victory at Eurovision 2016, Jamala has enjoyed musical success with follow up hits ‘I Believe in U’ and ‘Wings’.
She also got married to long term partner Bekir Suleimanov, gave birth to their son Emir. During her time as panelist on Ukrainian Eurovision selection show Vidbir she has become a widely shared gif and caused international controversy. In 2019 she posed a very ‘uncomfortable question’ to eventual winner of the show Maruv, who subsequently withdrew as a result and this led to Ukraine pulling out of the 2019 Contest. Continue reading

July ushers in a summer full of new hits from your Eurovision faves. This month we take a look at new tracks from Latvia’s Aminata, everyone’s favourite saxy group Sunstroke Project, Polish butter churner/singer CLEO and Eurovision 2018 alums Lea Sirk (Slovenia), AWS (Hungary) and Sevak Khanagyan (Armenia).
As we move into June we are treated to even more hits from former Eurovision stars. As June saw the opening of the FIFA World Cup we have been inundated with World Cup songs from the likes of Buranovskiye Babushki (aka the Russian Grannies), Armenian singer Iveta Mukuchyan and Malta’s Ira Losco teaming up with Jason Derulo. As well as that we have non-sporting new music from Belorussian 2018 representative Alekseev, Dutch girl band OG3NE and Eurovision 1988 winner and all round legend Celine Dion. Hot off the heels of their appearance this year, we get new tracks from UK artist SuRie, Italy’s Ermal Meta and Armenian representative Sevak Khanagyan. As Eurovision week 2018 approaches, some exciting news has broke about the 1974 winners Abba. The quartet comprised of Benny, Bjorn, Annifrid and Agnetha are to reform and release new music, their first album in 35 years. The band had been taking part in a recent virtual reality tour but only appeared together as holograms. This new music is an ‘unexpected consequence’ of that tour.
With selection shows in full swing, we take a break from this year’s Contest and look at the new releases from some of our favourite singers from the past few years. February sees new releases from former winner Jamala, as well as France’s Amir, Armenia’s Iveta Mukuchyan, Croatian Jacques Houdek and a duet between Norwegian producer JOWST and last year’s runner up Kristian Kostov.
