Hungary concluded their Eurovision selection show A Dal tonight, crowning Joci Papai their winner. They will represent the nation in Tel Aviv in May with the song ‘Az én apám’.
Hungary has staged the second semi final of their Eurovision selection show A Dal, finalising the line up for next week’s final. Nine acts were in the running but only four of them could advance to the final.
Earlier this month it was announced that Australia would return to Eurovision for the fifth consecutive year in 2019. Today, Australian broadcaster SBS confirmed plans for their first ever national selection contest.

Bulgaria are a nation whose Eurovision stock is on the rise. Since a two year absence from 2014-2015, they have achieved a fourth place and a second place finish for Poli Genova and Kristian Kostov respectively. Everyone has therefore been waiting with bated breath to see who their pick would be for 2018. And man did they drag it out to the last minute! Yulia Samoilova has had a tumultuous relationship with Eurovision having been chosen to represent the nation in 2017 and having to subsequently withdraw from the Contest due to growing tensions with host nation Ukraine. Netta Barzilai won Israel’s Rising Star last month, giving her the right to represent the nation at Eurovision 2018. Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2018 has drawn to a close this evening following the hosting of its final in Stockholm. Twelve acts were in contention with eight qualifying directly from their heats and a further four joining them from the second chance show last week.
