The Eurovision NI Awards are back for a fifth consecutive year in 2020. Initial details were unveiled a few weeks ago, announcing that the Awards will take place through Zoom on Saturday 3 October 2020 from 8pm. Tickets are free and you can register to attend on our Eventbrite page.

Today we reveal the nominees. Read on to find out who has been nominated in our eleven ‘Best’ categories and our five ‘Worst’ Categories. As always you can have your say with the People’s Choice Award and we can confirm that our special award: The Rising Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contribution to Eurovision goes to Jon Ola Sand in 2020.

The Eurovision NI Awards are back for a fifth consecutive year in 2020. Unfortunately, the awards will have to take place in a virtual setting this year. This is due to the uncertainties in the entertainment sector regarding being able to host large groups of people indoors in a live event setting as a result of the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic. But this won’t stop us having the usual fun!

Ulrikke Wins Eurovision NI’s World Cup 2020!

Eurovision NI’s World Cup is an eight week long competition that runs in the lead up to Eurovision week each year. It sees the Eurovision songs battle it out in a World Cup type format, starting with a group stage and moving its way to one on one battles in the knockout phase. 2020 saw the 41 songs duel it out with the two finalists being Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears and Norway’s Ulrikke. The Final vote took place last week and Ulrikke’s ‘Attention’ was crowned the winner with a whopping 91% of the vote.

On Saturday night we were all supposed to be tuning in to the Grand Final of Eurovision 2020. However due to the Coronavirus, the show was cancelled. Eurovision NI wanted the party to continue so we hosted our very own Eurovision 2020 Watch Party. Two semi finals took place on Tuesday and Thursday and the ten qualifiers from each joined the Big Five and host nation the Netherlands in Saturday’s Grand Final. The Grand Final was won by Iceland’s Dadi Freyr and their song ‘Think About Things’. Read on for the full results including semi finals and the jury/televote split for the Grand Final.

Tonight saw the eighteen countries that were supposed to take part in Eurovision 2020’s Second Semi Final, fight it out for a spot in our Grand Final on Saturday. There were only ten spots available and the results were as follows:

After six weeks of voting in the group stage, the knock out round, the quarter finals and the semi finals, we are now at the last battle of the Eurovision NI World Cup 2020! Two songs made it to this stage- Norway’s ‘Attention’ by Ulrikke and Switzerland’s ‘Repondez Moi’ by Gjon’s Tears. You can listen to both songs and vote for your winner below! The poll will close on Sunday night and the winner will be revealed on Monday!

Four songs battled it out last week in the fight to become the Eurovision NI’s World Cup 2020 champions. In this Semi Final round Norway’s Ulrikke faced off against Italy’s Diodato and Iceland’s Dadi Freyr battled it out against Swiss act Gjon’s Tears. But only two songs could advance to this week’s Grand Final.
