Russia are coming late to the Eurovision party this year. They are the penultimate country to announce their Eurovision act for 2017 when this evening they choose X-Factor contestant Yulia Samoilova for Kiev. The singer will perform ‘Flame is Burning’, check out her video below.
Well well well, hasn’t the world of Eurovision been a busy one this week. Not only did we have the conclusion of national final season with the staging of the remaining selection shows, but the previously announced artists came out in force unveiling music videos for their Eurovision songs or debuting them for the first time. Three time Sammarinese Eurovision representative Valentina Monetta is back for a fourth attempt in 2017. She represented the micro state in 2012, 2013 and most recently in 2014 when her song ‘Maybe’ saw San Marino qualify for the final for the first time ever.
This week has been a corker for Eurovision selections and announcements with all but three of the countries revealing their Eurovision 2017 artists and songs. Australia, Greece, Belgium, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Ireland, Macedonia, Iceland Serbia, Israel, Lithuania, San Marino and Norway have joined the list of Eurovision 2017 songs. Fusedmarc have won the Lithuanian national selection show Eurovizijos and will represent the nation at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with their song ‘Rain of Revolution’.
Earlier this evening Iceland crowned Svala as the winner of Songvakeppnin 2017. She will go on to perform ‘Paper’ the English version of her song ‘Ég veit það’ in Kiev.
