Zoe to Represent Austria with Loin d’Ici

Zoe Austria Eurovision 2016
Austria staged their national selection show Wer Singt Fur Osterreich last night. Ten singers took to the stage to perform the song with which they wanted to represent Austria at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The show was hosted by 2015 Eurovision presenter Alice Tumer, as well as Andi Knoll, live from the ORF Center in Vienna.

Following the performances a panel of experts made up of 2014 Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst, singer and actress Madita and Julie Frost writer of Eurovision winning song ‘Satellite’ offered their critique. The Press Jury then revealed their scores and this was later combined with the public vote to give us the top three.

In third place was Bella Wagner who performed a bizarre rendition of her song ‘Weapons Down’. The top two were Elly V with ‘I’ll Be Around (Bounce)’ and eventual winner Zoe who will represent Austria with ‘Loin d’Ici’. This will be the first time Austria has competed with a song entirely in French. Did Austria make the right decision? Are they in contention to win again like with Conchita, or are they at risk of receiving nul points like with the MakeMakes in 2015? Check out the song below and let us know what you think.
