The Irish Mirror and Irish Daily Mail has reported today that Irish pop mogul Louis Walsh will announce the Irish Eurovision entry on national broadcaster RTE’s chat show The Late Late Show tonight.
The Irish version of Dancing with the Stars will launch in the new year and this week RTE revealed that former Big Breakfast, Paradise Hotel and The Swan presenter Amanda Byram will team up with the Irish Eurovision entrant for 2016 and former Westlife star Nicky Byrne to host the show.
Although both Ireland and Albania failed to qualify from Semi Final 2 last night, they have been battling it out this week in the final of our first ever Eurovision World Cup. We received over 40,000 votes and we can now reveal that the winner of the entire competition is Ireland’s Nicky Byrne with his song ‘Sunlight’. He received 56% of the total vote, equating to 24,530 votes. Meanwhile Albania’s Eneda Tarifa received 44% (a total of 18,919 votes) was our runner up with her song ‘Fairytale’.
After weeks of polls; group stage, knockout round, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals, we are finally in a position to announce the two countries who will duke it out to be crowned the first ever winner of the Eurovision World Cup: Albania v Ireland!
This week four countries battled it out in the semi final stages of our first every Eurovision World Cup competition. You have been voting all week in the two match ups that saw Ireland’s Nicky Byrne compete against Austria’s Zoe, while Eneda Tarifa for Albania duked it out with Amir for France. This week you have been voting in the last of our weekly polls before the Eurovision Final which will take place on Saturday 14th May. On top of the last weekly poll of the year was Albania. Eneda Tarifa has topped the poll an incredible nine out of twelve times with her song ‘Fairytale’. This week she topped the poll with 52% of the vote while Bosnia Herzegovina finished in second for a third week in a row with Ireland’s Nicky Byrne in third with 18% for his song ‘Sunlight’. The top five was rounded up by UK’s Joe and Jake and France’s Amir. Read on for the full results.
