Lithuanian broadcaster LRT have announced the nation’s plans for selecting their song and artist for the 2017 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The tried and tested format Eurovizijos will return in 2017 with the first of its four heats taking place on 7th January.
Lithuania will hold their Eurovizijos final on Saturday 21st February. The national selection process is interesting in that they have already chosen their song, placing primary focus on this. While finding the right artist to perform the song is equally important, this has become a secondary focus. Last week Lithuania opted for song ‘This Time’ as their Eurovision pick and this weekend will see them choose between three singers Mia, Monika Linkyte and Vaidas Baumila. Ahead of the final we take a closer look at the participants.
Vilija Mataciunaite (spell check) is Lithuania’s choice for Eurovision in 2014. ‘Attention’ is the title of her song and she commands just that from the outset. The song has a catchy hook and with the constant repetition of the title it’s hard for it not to be stuck in your head for days.
