Over the past week and a half we have been gradually unveiling our top 100 songs from the last ten years of Eurovision (2007-2016). Now that all has been revealed, here is the full countdown from number 100 to number one!
This week I began my countdown of my Top 100 Eurovision Songs from the past ten years. Yesterday I revealed those songs that placed 91-100, today I will count down the songs that placed from 81-90, join me tomorrow when songs 71-80 will be posted! It’s three months on from the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, and we thought it was the perfect time to update you on what the class of 2016 have been up to since competing in Stockholm in May. Many artists use the opportunity of performing at Eurovision to launch a career, engage with new audiences and avail of all opportunities afforded to them. 2016’s representatives are no different with some of the acts having already released follow up singles to their Eurovision songs. After an absolute stinker last year with Anti Social Media, Denmark are hoping to return to their usually good form at Eurovision with boyband Lighthouse X. The band (pronounced Lighthouse Ten) will compete in Stockholm with their song ‘Soldiers of Love’. We assess if they have what it takes to get Denmark to the Eurovision final this year in our review.
Two songs will advance from Group G to the knock out stage of our Eurovision World Cup Contest. Group G consists of Sweden, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark and Greece . Denmark’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix came to a head tonight with ten acts vying to be chosen as the Danish Eurovision entry for 2016. In the end it was Lighthouse X that were chosen by the public to go to Stockholm to compete in May.
The ten acts competing in this year’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will shortly take to the stage in the hopes of being the Danish Eurovision act for 2016. But who did you vote as your favourite?
Denmark have won Eurovision on three occasions: first in 1963 with ‘Dansevise’ by Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann, then again in 2000 and 2013 with the Olsen Brothers’ ‘Fly On the Wings of Love’ and Emmelie de Forest’s ‘Only Teardrops’, respectively. As well as their three wins, Denmark have also had a further 11 top five finishes at Eurovision. However their most recent attempt in 2015 they failed to qualify for the final, as Anti-Social Media’s ‘The Way You Are’ only finished in 13th place in semi final 2.
