A roster of eight Latvian singers (Aivo Oskis, Alekss Silvers, Edgars Kreilis, Elza Rozentale, Kris and Oz, Laime Pilniga, Liga Ridere and Samanta Tina) fought it out for a place in the final of Latvia’s Eurovision selection show Supernova tonight. There was only room for four in the final. So who made it?
Fighting fire with fire? It would appear not. You may have noticed that two of the sixteen songs that have been selected for the Latvian selection show in 2019 are entitled ‘Fire’. The Double Faced Eels song will keep the title, but Edgars Kreilis has decided to change the name of his song from ‘Fire’ to ‘Cherry Absinthe’.

Latvia’s Supernova was launched to the public last week and today the broadcaster LTV has whittled the list of 33 down to just 16 songs that will compete in the semi finals in February.
Latvia’s Supernova was launched to the public earlier today when the broadcaster LTV revealed the songs that were in contention for this year’s Latvian Eurovision selection show. All in all 33 songs were invited to audition live on Thursday 22 November. The broadcaster have now published the performances of these songs both on their website and their official YouTube channel.
Lithuanian broadcaster LRT have announced the nation’s plans for selecting their song and artist for the 2017 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The tried and tested format Eurovizijos will return in 2017 with the first of its four heats taking place on 7th January.
The final of Latvia’ Supernova competition was held earlier this evening and saw crowned Justs as the winner. The ‘Heartbeat’ singer will represent Latvia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in May.
