We kick off this year’s Eurovision reviews off with Moldova and their song ‘I Want Your Love’. The song is an uptempo amazingly infectious song with whistley flutes and drum beat, which might help it stand out from all the female ballads that make up the field of entries this year.
Former X-Factor contestant, Kitty Brucknell has tonight failed to qualify for the final of Moldova’s national selection final for Eurovision 2015. The ‘Remix’ singer competed against eleven other acts in the first of two semi finals on 24th February. Brucknell finished 11th out of the twelve acts, following a combination of jury and public votes. The act which came out on top on the night was Eduard Romanyuta with song ‘I Want Your Love’.
The second semi final will take place on Thursday night with another eight acts advancing to the final.
1. All three Baltic state countries chose their Eurovision entry this weekend. Estonia’s Eesti Laul came to a head with the favourites Elina Born and Stig Rasta being chosen to represent Estonia with their song ‘Goodbye to Yesterday’.
2. Lithuania had already chosen their song ‘This Time’ but it was this week that we learned that two of the three finalists would perform the song as a duet in Vienna in May. Mia turned out to be highly unfortunate as her other two competitors Vaidas Baumila and Monika Linkyte were chosen to be Lithuania’s entry.
3. Latvia’s national selection process saw four songs battle it out, but in the end it was Aminata with her song ‘Love Injected’ who would progress to compete at Eurovision in May.
After the BBC refused to have ex X-Factor contestants as the UK Eurovision entry 2015, Kitty Brucknell found herself having to go elsewhere to make her Eurovision dream a reality. Having been rejected by Switzerland, Brucknell tried her luck with Moldova who selected her to compete in their national selection process with her song ‘Remix’.
The song is a great up tempo number with all the thrills and spills of a modern pop song that would fill any dance floor. We however were skeptical that Kitty would make it much further in the selection process having seen her audition video where she performs her song live. Her vocals are really off and her dance moves are quite cringey.
Kitty took to Twitter to defend the performance, chalking it up to nerves. She has since put in a lot of work to make her performance better and says that ‘Remix’ slays now. Kitty Brucknell will compete in Moldova’s national selection process’s first semi final on Tuesday 24th February. If successful she will compete on Saturday 28th in the Moldovan Final.
