This week you have been voting in group seven of Eurovision NI’s Song of 2016 poll. The poll closed last night and we can now reveal the results.
Over the next nine weeks we will be looking closely at some of the songs released in 2016 by former Eurovision contestants. We will be asking you to vote for your favourite from the lists before compiling a final Top 30 just before the end of the year.
Greece deviated from their usual selection process in 2016. Instead of staging the MAD show which chooses the Greek Eurovision entry, instead they internally selected the band Argo to represent them with ‘Utopian Land’. The gamble didn’t pay off, as Greece blemished their perfect Eurovision record, failing to qualify for the final for the first time ever since the semi finals were introduced in 2004.
Greece’s 2016 Eurovision representatives failed to impress at Eurovision, giving Greece their worst ever result. Nonetheless, Argo (formerly Europond) are back with a follow up song to their Eurovision entry ‘Utopian Land’.
