Hungary continued the search for their Eurovision 2018 participant tonight with the second heat of their selection show A Dal. Ten songs competed for six spots in the next round. Read on to find out who made it!
Freddie has been crowned the winner of A Dal 2016 and will represent Hungary at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Pioneer’. The 25 year old from Budapest has had a long slog in the contest qualifying from a heat round and semi final round. He had his work cut out for him with stiff competition from returning Eurovision act Andras Kallay Saunders who represented Hungary in the 2014 contest.
As the eight remaining contenders get ready to take the stage to perform in the final of Hungary’s A DAL, Eurovision selection show, we have asked you to vote for your favourite song in our poll. The poll has now closed and I can reveal that coming out on top was Freddie’s ‘Pioneer’ with 37.8% of the vote.

A DAL is the Hungarian selection show for Eurovision which kicked off in style tonight with the first of its three live shows. The competition saw ten acts compete with six positions available to them in the next round.
Hungary have competed in Eurovision 13 times since their first appearance in 1994 (with a break from 1999-2004 and also in 2006 and 2010). Their 1994 début entry still marks their best result with the song ‘Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet? finishing fourth for Friderika Bayer. More recently Hungary achieved a top five finish in 2014 when András Kállay-Saunders represented them with ‘Running’. Kallay Saunders is back to compete in A Dal 2016.
