For the past week you have been voting in the Round of 16 stage of the 2018 edition of the Eurovision NI World Cup. From the 43 countries that started out, sixteen have progressed to the second stage and now we can reveal the winner of each duel. Only eight can make it to the Quarter Final Round! Belgium were the first nation to announce their artist for Eurovision 2018. Back in September last year the national broadcaster chose Laura Groeseneken aka SENNEK as their choice in Lisbon. Earlier this week her song for Eurovision leaked a day earlier and you can now listen to ‘A Matter of Time’ below:

Laura Groeseneken was the first of the artists to be announced for Eurovision 2018. She will sing for Belgium in Lisbon in May, but here are some interesting facts about the singer.

Late last week Laura Groeseneken was selected as Belgium’s 2018 Eurovision participant. The singer revealed in an interview that part of the reason she was interested in competing was due to the beauty of this year’s winning song ‘Amar Pelos Dois’ by Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral. In homage to the song she has done her own version in English. Check it out:

And so it begins, the first in a long line of artist announcements for Eurovision 2018. Flemish broadcaster VRT (who take it year about with French speaking broadcaster RTBF to choose the Belgian Eurovision entry) have got in there early and are the first to announce their artist for the Contest. It will be Laura Groeseneken who will represent then nation at Eurovision which this year will take place in Lisbon.
