Last week saw Armenia launch their selection process for Eurovision 2017 with the first 25 acts competing to go through to the second round of Depi Evratesil (Towards Eurovision). Last night, the competition continued with another 25 acts hoping to advance to round two.
Fans of Armenian singer Iveta Mukuchyan will be very happy today as the singer has not only released a new track but has also unveiled the accompanying video. The singer came to our attention earlier this year when she represented her nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, finishing in an impressive seventh place with her track ‘LoveWave’.
Armenian broadcaster AMPTV announced today its plans for their Eurovision selection procedure for 2017. Instead of internal selection, which has been the case for their past four attempts, a national contest titled ‘Depi Evratesil’ will determine which singer will perform for the nation in Ukraine in 2017.
Six of this year’s Eurovision female singers have joined forces to create a new super group. The idea came from Armenian Tamar Kaprelian who is currently competing in this year’ contest as part of group Genealogy.
Today say the first round of rehearsals for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. The Wiener Stadhalle welcomed the first batch of Eurovision hopefuls who got to perform on stage for the first time and see how their songs would sound in the live environment of the arena. Armenia had probably the most interesting concept for choosing their Eurovision entry out of all countries in 2015. They proposed to symbolically reunite the Armenian diaspora who had been forced to move abroad following the Armenian genocide of 1915 by forming a band out of representatives from five continents- Europe, Asia, Africa, Americas and Oceania, as well as having a sixth member from Armenia. The result was the band Genealogy and their song is ‘Face the Shadow’.
