The BBC today have unveiled their plans for selecting their Eurovision act and song for 2017. The UK’s national broadcaster will use the same format as last year, a selection show voted for by the public called You Decide.
Reigning Eurovision champ Mans Zelmerlow has been added to the performance line up of the BBC’s UK Eurovision selection show ‘You Decide’. He will be joined by the last act to win Eurovision for the United Kingdom Katrina and the Waves on 26th February in the O2 Forum in Kentish Town where the live show will be filmed from.
The Eurovision semi-finals, which will take place in May 2016, will air on BBC Four instead of BBC Three, and the final will air as normal on BBC One. The announcement came from BBC Four editor Cassian Harrison who commented that: ‘I’m delighted that Eurovision: You Decide [UK song selection show] and both of the Semi Finals are coming to the channel this year.’
The UK’s Eurovision act for 2016 will be decided by the British public on 26 February when six shortlisted acts will perform on BBC Four the songs they hope will see them through to the Eurovision stage in Stockholm.
