Cyprus’ Song To Be ‘Alter Ego’

Cyprus Eurovision 2016 Minus OneCyprus were one of the first Eurovision acts to announce their candidate for 2016 when they chose rock band Minus One by internal selection in November. Since then all has been quiet in the Cypriot camp until it was revealed earlier today that the song they would sing in Stockholm would be called ‘Alter Ego’.

Cyprus have competed in Eurovision 32 times since they debuted in 1981 with Island. Since then Cyprus’s best result has been fifth place on three occasions with Anna Vissi in 1982, Hara & Andreas Constantinou in 1997 and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas. More recently Cyprus hasn’t fared as well, failing to qualify from the semi final stage on six occasions out of their last ten attempts. Last year’s entry saw Giannis Karagiannis finish in 22nd place with his song ‘One Thing I Should Have Done’.

Giannis Karagiannis is Cyprus’ choice for Eurovision 2015

After months of searching for a representative, Cyprus has crowned Giannis Karagiannis as the winner of  the Eurovision Song Project and his song ‘One Thing I Should Have Done’ will be their choice for Eurovision 2015.
