Netta Barzilai has been crowned the winner of Eurovision 2018 for Israel. The singer wowed both juries and the public throughout Europe and Australia with her song ‘Toy’, a reaction to the recent #MeToo Movement. The song beat off stiff competition from Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira who finished in second with song ‘Fuego’, Austria’s Cezar Sampson was a surprise hit with the juries coming in third, former winner Alexander Rybak (Norway) and former runner up Waylon (The Netherlands). Netta totaled 529 points between the jury and televote.
Belgium were the first nation to announce their artist for Eurovision 2018. Back in September last year the national broadcaster chose Laura Groeseneken aka SENNEK as their choice in Lisbon. Earlier this week her song for Eurovision leaked a day earlier and you can now listen to ‘A Matter of Time’ below:
And so it begins, the first in a long line of artist announcements for Eurovision 2018. Flemish broadcaster VRT (who take it year about with French speaking broadcaster RTBF to choose the Belgian Eurovision entry) have got in there early and are the first to announce their artist for the Contest. It will be Laura Groeseneken who will represent then nation at Eurovision which this year will take place in Lisbon.
