Azerbaijan possibly have the best Eurovision track record ever. They’ve qualified for the final every time they have competed since their debut in 2008, they won in 2011 with Ell and Niki’s ‘Running Scared’ and have a total of six top ten finishes in eight attempts. Their worst result to date was in 2014 when Dilara Kazimova came 22nd with ‘Start a Fire’. What is the secret of their success and what have they in store for us in 2016?
The first rounds of the competition are over and we are one step closer to finding out which Eurovision Song is your favourite ever. We have whittled the field down from 32 to just 16 and now it is time for the first of our semi finals. Below are the songs in contention for advancing to the final. Have a listen below and vote for your favourites in the poll. You can pick up to three songs. The results will be revealed on Sunday 8th March.
Lena’s ‘Satellite’ has topped our third heat in our quest to determine the best Eurovision song ever with 52.78% of the vote. Lena will progress to the Semi Finals along with Ell and Niki whose song ‘Running Scared’ came in second place with 22.22% of the vote, Eric Saade’s ‘Popular’ and Dima Bilan’s ‘Believe’ which finished third and fourth respectively with 11.11 and 8.33% of the vote.
