EBU Outline 4 Scenarios for Eurovision 2021!

Eurovision fans were devastated when the 2020 Contest was cancelled due to the ongoing global Coronavirus Pandemic. All eyes were on Eurovision 2021 to see how future plans for the event would progress. A few months ago, the new EBU Eurovision Executive Supervisor Martin Osterdahl announced that the Contest would go ahead in some form in 2021 but today the EBU revealed the framework for how this would look.

In today’s announcement they announced four possible scenarios for the plans in 2021 ranging from business as usual with a full audience to a Contest on lockdown where participants would perform in a TV studio in their home nation but would still be broadcast on the Final (something similar to the plans for the Junior Eurovision in November).

The slogan for Eurovision 2020 was ‘Open Up’ but due to the worldwide spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, Europe is ‘Closed Off’. Due to restrictions beyond their control the EBU have taken the decision today to cancel Eurovision which was due to take place in Rotterdam in May.
