Italy’s Eurovision competitor for 2016 and Sanremo runner up, Francesca Michielin has announced that she will sing “Nessun grado di separazione” in Sweden in May.
Italy’s weeklong marathon song contest, Sanremo came to a close last night. The overall ‘Big Artists’ was won by Stadio with their song ‘Un giorno mi dirai’. They had advanced to the final round alongside Francesca Michielin who finished in second and duo Giovanni Caccamo & Deborah Iurato who finished third.
Tonight is the final night of Italy’s Sanremo song contest and is the culmination of a week long series of concerts in which twenty acts have competed in the Big Artists competition and tonight they will crown a winner.
The second of Italy’s Sanremo shows took place last night with ten more of the big artist acts perfroming. Of these ten, six came top of the rankings while the other four were at risk of being eliminated. In addition to this the first of the new artists performed in ‘battles’. Four of these acts faced off against each other, with two progressing to the final and two getting eliminated. The overall winner will be crowned on Saturday on the final evening and will be given first refusal at representing Italy at Eurovision 2016.
