Earlier today Tel Aviv officially handed over Eurovision hosting duties to Rotterdam. In an event that took place at Rotterdam’s City Hall, the host city insignia handover ceremony took place, but more importantly we now know which countries will compete in which of the semi finals when The Netherlands hosts the 2020 Contest later this year.

In an event that took place at Tel Aviv’s former City Hall, the host city insignia handover ceremony took place, but more importantly we now know which countries will compete in which of the semi finals when Israel hosts the 2019 Contest later this year.
Six nations automatically qualify for the Eurovision final. This is the host nation Portugal and the so-called ‘Big Five’ nations; France, Spain, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom. Portugal, as hosts got to choose the slot they would perform in at the final and last month chose number 8 spot. Today the Big Five took part in the draw to find out which half of the final they would compete in.
Earlier today host broadcaster RTP facilitated the draw that will determine which nations will perform in each of the semi finals for Eurovision 2018. The results of the draw are below:

Earlier today the so called Big Five Eurovision nations of France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and Spain learned of the fate of their performance slot for the Eurovision Grand Final 2016.

This is a weird one for me. How can you possibly get behind a song when the nation it represents didn’t even pick it as their first choice. At Germany’s national selection final, they chose to pick Andreas Kummert and his song ‘Home is in My Heart’, however moments later the former Voice contestant turned down the opportunity. Instead the decision was made that Ann Sophie (the wildcard selection) would represent Germany in Vienna with ‘Black Smoke’.
