Earlier today Lisbon officially handed over Eurovision hosting duties to Tel Aviv. In an event that took place at Tel Aviv’s former City Hall, the host city insignia handover ceremony took place, but more importantly we now know which countries will compete in which of the semi finals when Israel hosts the 2019 Contest later this year. Big Five Nations Draw Running Spots for Final

Six nations automatically qualify for the Eurovision final. This is the host nation Portugal and the so-called ‘Big Five’ nations; France, Spain, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom. Portugal, as hosts got to choose the slot they would perform in at the final and last month chose number 8 spot. Today the Big Five took part in the draw to find out which half of the final they would compete in.

Review: United Kingdom- Joe and Jake ‘You Are Not Alone’

Joe and Jake are a duo who met on the fourth series of BBC talent show the Voice. Although they competed as solo artists, the two felt a connection and combined forces to be considered for the UK’s Eurovision selection show ‘You Decide’. Review: Germany- Ann Sophie ‘Black Smoke’

Ann SophieThis is a weird one for me. How can you possibly get behind a song when the nation it represents didn’t even pick it as their first choice. At Germany’s national selection final, they chose to pick Andreas Kummert and his song ‘Home is in My Heart’, however moments later the former Voice contestant turned down the opportunity. Instead the decision was made that Ann Sophie (the wildcard selection) would represent Germany in Vienna with ‘Black Smoke’. Continue reading
