Finnish broadcaster YLE have confirmed that the country will choose their song for Eurovision 2017 through their annual national selection show Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK). This year however there are to be a few changes.
After weeks of voting in our polls, you have crowned Conchita Wurst’s 2014 winning song ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’ as your favourite Eurovision song ever. She proved to be unstoppable as she won by quite a large margin with 82% of the vote (2077 votes) in the final round. In second place was Sweden’s Loreen with ‘Euphoria’ which despite a late surge in votes only managed 10% of the overall total. Alexander Rybak’s ‘Fairytale’ was in third with 7% and Common Linnets’ ‘Calm After the Storm’ and ABBA’s ‘Waterloo’ were fourth and fifth respectively, both with less than 1% of the vote.
We are just hours away from crowning the winner of our favourite Eurovision song ever. After weeks of voting it has come down to just five songs- Rise Like a Phoenix, Euphoria, Waterloo, Fairytale and Calm After the Storm. But which of the five will be victorious? That’s entirely up to you. If you want to see your favourite come out on top then vote in the poll below before it closes later today at 8pm.
2. Loreen rose to fame on Sweden’s version of Pop Idol in 2004 performing songs such as Pink’s ‘Like a Pill’ and Britney Spears’ ‘Stronger’. She was eliminated in Week 8 of the live shows finishing in fourth overall. The eventual winner of the competition was Daniel Lindstrom.
