Eight songs qualified for the final of A Dal, Hungary’s Eurovision national selection show which concluded this evening. Following a number of semi finals and tonight’s final, the winner was announced as being Joci Papai who will sing their song ‘Origo’ for Hungary in Kiev in May. Full results below.

The show which was originally meant to take place last weekend but was postponed due to a national day of mourning, saw ten artists compete in the second of the three heats. Hungary are the latest country to reveal the competitors for their national selection show. A Dal 2017 will be contested over six shows which begin on 14th January with the first semi final and culminate in the final to be held on 18th February.
Freddie has been crowned the winner of A Dal 2016 and will represent Hungary at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Pioneer’. The 25 year old from Budapest has had a long slog in the contest qualifying from a heat round and semi final round. He had his work cut out for him with stiff competition from returning Eurovision act Andras Kallay Saunders who represented Hungary in the 2014 contest.

The poll has now closed and I can reveal that coming out on top was Freddie’s ‘Pioneer’ with 37.8% of the vote.
