Last night Serbia presented their Eurovision Song Contest song for 2016. 22 year old Sanja Vucic and band ZAA will sing ‘Goodbye (Shelter)’ in their bid to qualify for the final from Semi Final 2 on the 12th May in Stockholm. Have a listen to their song below and let us know your thoughts.
Serbia had previously performed as Serbia and Montenegro (2004-2006 with a second place finish in 2004) and prior to that as part of Yugoslavia (1961-1992 with a win in 1989). Since breaking away they have enjoyed moderate success. This includes a win on their debut in 2007 with Marija Šerifović’s ‘Molitva’, as well as a third place in 2012, sixth in 2008 and most recently a tenth place for Bojana Stamenov’s ‘Beauty Never Lies’. They failed to qualify in 2009 and in 2013 and did not participate in 2014.
We are pitting another two 2015 Eurovision outfits against each other in this the second battle in our Wardrobe Wars series. Today’s battle sees the Georgian entry, Nina Sublatti’s warrior attire (a la Game of Thrones) go up against the Serbian delight Bojana Stamenov’s sparkly glitzy gown. Read on to view both outfits and vote for your favourite in our poll.
Today the acts from Serbia, Hungary, Belarus, Russia, Denmark, Albania, Romania and Georgia all got the chance to have their first practice run through on the Eurovision stage. Wiener Stadhalle in the Austrian capital has been totally transformed for the Contest and you can get a little sneak preview of some of the acts by reading on.
The last time Serbia won the Eurovision was back in 2007 with ‘Molitva’ by Marija Serifovic. I have to say that this is possibly my least favourite Eurovision winning song ever. I would even say that I despise it. I am happy to say though that I am a huge fan of Serbia’s choice for 2015. Bojana Stamenov is a larger than life character who is constantly upbeat, dresses in colourful clothing and seems like genuinely fun to be around.
Serbia have revealed the official video for their Eurovision 2015 entry ‘Beauty Never Lies’. The Serbian entrant Bojana Stamenov can be seen singing in the studio while several of her fans were given the chance to appear in the video singing along to the song.
