Eurovision 2016 Guide: Serbia

Eurovision San Marino 2016

Serbia had previously performed as Serbia and Montenegro (2004-2006 with a second place finish in 2004) and prior to that as part of Yugoslavia (1961-1992 with a win in 1989). Since breaking away they have enjoyed moderate success. This includes a win on their debut in 2007 with Marija Šerifović’s ‘Molitva’, as well as a third place in 2012, sixth in 2008 and most recently a tenth place for Bojana Stamenov’s ‘Beauty Never Lies’. They failed to qualify in 2009 and in 2013 and did not participate in 2014.

The last time Serbia won the Eurovision was back in 2007 with ‘Molitva’ by Marija Serifovic. I have to say that this is possibly my least favourite Eurovision winning song ever. I would even say that I despise it. I am happy to say though that I am a huge fan of Serbia’s choice for 2015. Bojana Stamenov is a larger than life character who is constantly upbeat, dresses in colourful clothing and seems like genuinely fun to be around. Continue reading

Serbia have revealed the official video for their Eurovision 2015 entry ‘Beauty Never Lies’. The Serbian entrant Bojana Stamenov can be seen singing in the studio while several of her fans were given the chance to appear in the video singing along to the song.
