This week we kicked off our annual competition to find the top 40 songs from former Eurovision stars in 2019. The first set of 16 contenders were posted on Monday and you have been voting for your favourites. It’s now time to reveal the results and announce which five songs have made it through to the final 40.

Tonight Spain became the fourth nation to select their song for Eurovision 2018. In a gala event, the finalists of Operacion Triunfo competed in a variety of duos, groups and solo acts to be chosen as Spain’s representative for 2018. In the end they selected Alfred and Amaia with song ‘Tu Canción’.
Spain’s Operacion Triunfo will turn its attention towards Eurovision and their Eurovision Gala Event on 29 January. This show will serve as the nation’s selection show for Eurovision 2018. Nine different combinations of acts (solo, duets and group) will perform nine songs in the show but only one can be selected for Eurovision 2018. Ahead of that show, we asked you to vote for your favourite song in our poll. Here are the results.
On Monday evening Spain will play host to their Eurovision Gala edition of Operacion Triunfo which will decide which act and song will represent the nation at Eurovision 2018. Before that we take a look at the contenders, rate them out of ten and rank them in order of worst to best.
Throughout December and January Spanish broadcaster RTVE have been airing the singing competition Operacion Triunfo, a Fame Academy-esque show where the 18 participants collaborate, write and perform together but then get eliminated one by one each week. Half way through the run, it was announced that the show would serve as the platform for the broadcaster to select the Spanish Eurovision contestant for 2018. This week, they announced the top five who will battle it out in the live Eurovision Gala Event on 29 January.
Spanish Eurovision fans received some clarity last night regarding the nation’s selection process for Eurovision 2018. Broadcaster TVE revealed that popular talent show Operacion Triunfo currently airing on the channel will be the means for Spain selecting their entrant for the 2018 Contest.
