There have been so many great songs this year that we’ve decided to expand our Top 30 songs of the year to 40. 24 songs have already made it through to the final round by coming in the top three in each of their group polls. Now it’s time to reveal the 16 wildcards that will join them!
At the weekend we dished out awards in 19 categories (and it didn’t take a week) at the Eurovision NI (knee?) Awards 2018. Read on to see our photo gallery with some of the highlights from the night! Can’t wait to do it all again next year.
Netta Barzilai has been crowned the winner of Eurovision 2018 for Israel. The singer wowed both juries and the public throughout Europe and Australia with her song ‘Toy’, a reaction to the recent #MeToo Movement. The song beat off stiff competition from Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira who finished in second with song ‘Fuego’, Austria’s Cezar Sampson was a surprise hit with the juries coming in third, former winner Alexander Rybak (Norway) and former runner up Waylon (The Netherlands). Netta totaled 529 points between the jury and televote.
The second semi final for Eurovision 2018 took place earlier this evening. 18 countries battled it out for the ten remaining spots in the Grand Final on Saturday. Find out which countries made it through!

Many Eurovision fans will know that the 2009 champ Alexander Rybak has returned to the Contest in 2018 with his song ‘That’s How You Write a Song’. However, those who don’t follow the Norwegian singer on social media may not realise that he has been posting videos of him accompanying many of this year’s songs with his own additional violin pieces.
