Last month the UK revealed that six acts would compete for the public vote to be chosen to be their Eurovision representative in 2016. It wasn’t until this morning’s Ken Bruce radio 2 show that we found out who these contenders would be.
The United Kingdom are of of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. They have managed to rack up an impressive five wins including Sandy Shaw (1967), Lulu (1969), Brotherhood of Mann (1976), Buck’s Fizz (1981) and most recently in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves. What’s even more impressive is that they have a whopping fifteen second places from acts ranging from Cliff Richard and Matt Monro to Imaani and Sonia. As of late their track record has been less impressive, only cracking the top ten once on their last thirteen attempts. This has led the BBC to rethink their selection process in 2016…
