Some of the biggest acts to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years have teamed up to cover ABBA’s 1974 winning hit song ‘Waterloo’.
After weeks of voting in our polls, you have crowned Conchita Wurst’s 2014 winning song ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’ as your favourite Eurovision song ever. She proved to be unstoppable as she won by quite a large margin with 82% of the vote (2077 votes) in the final round. In second place was Sweden’s Loreen with ‘Euphoria’ which despite a late surge in votes only managed 10% of the overall total. Alexander Rybak’s ‘Fairytale’ was in third with 7% and Common Linnets’ ‘Calm After the Storm’ and ABBA’s ‘Waterloo’ were fourth and fifth respectively, both with less than 1% of the vote.
We are just hours away from crowning the winner of our favourite Eurovision song ever. After weeks of voting it has come down to just five songs- Rise Like a Phoenix, Euphoria, Waterloo, Fairytale and Calm After the Storm. But which of the five will be victorious? That’s entirely up to you. If you want to see your favourite come out on top then vote in the poll below before it closes later today at 8pm.
We can’t think of a more fitting way to wrap up our day dedicated to pop royalty Abba than by thanking them for the music with their song “Thank You for the Music. We would also like to thank you all for joining us throughout the day.
Don’t forget, if Abba’s “Waterloo” is your favourite Eurovision song ever, you can vote for it in our poll.
Benny and bjorn’s music and lyrics are one of the many reasons we love Abba so much. Take for instance the Abba Gold lyrics from “Dancing Queen”: “You are the dancing queen, young and sweet only seventeen, dancing queen feel the beat from the tambourine oh yeah!” Epic. Listen to the whole song here.
As we take a look back on Abba’s long career, we decided to have a look at an interview with Noel Edmunds when the band celebrated their ten year anniversary. Have a look at what they have to say.
What’s next on store for us on our day of Abbamania? How about Chiquitita?
Time now for another song from the Abba hit factory. This time we’ve chosen to share with you “SOS”. Enjoy!
