The Netherlands have chosen Jeangu Macrooy as the artist to defend their Eurovision crown in 2020.
Jeangu Macrooy originally from Paramaribo in Suriname, moved to the Netherlands in 2014. He is a modern soul singer who has gained in popularity across mainland Europe with the release of his two solo albums ‘High On You’ (2017) and ‘Horizons’ (2019). Specifically he has enjoyed number one success with the single ‘High On You’.
Earlier this week and after much speculation, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS announced that Jeangu will perform for the Netherlands on home soil at Eurovision 2020. The song he will sing will be revealed in due course.
Jeangu will be hoping to continue The Netherlands’ recent success at Eurovision which has seen the nation qualify every year but one since 2013. This includes a second place finish for the Common Linnets in 2014 and a win for Duncan Laurence last year with song ‘Arcade’.
