During the festive season, the BBC aired an episode of long running faith based show Songs of Praise from Belfast’s Assembly Hall. Hosted by Claire McCollum, the Big Sing featured songs from the Priests, Margaret Keys and 1970 Eurovision winner Dana.
During the show Dana treated the audience to a rendition of her 1979 Irish chart topping hit ‘Totus Tuus’ (Totally Yours) which she had penned with her husband. During a short interview Dana noted how important her faith was to her ‘I don’t know how anybody can live their lives not believing in the power of God’. Since winning Eurovision Dana has written a number of popular hymns including ‘Lady of Knock’ which is a popular song played at Catholic funerals.
2020 will be the 50 year anniversary of Dana winning the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland with the song ‘All Kinds of Everything’. To mark the occasion Dana has released a new album ‘My Time’ and plans to take part in a number of special events to commemorate the occasion.
