Jenny ‘the Vixen’ Ryan Performs Rise Like A Phoenix on X-Factor Celebrity!

News

This weekend saw X-Factor Celebrity move to the live show portion of the competition. Back in the judging seats were Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger who last week were given their categories (the groups, unders and overs respectively). The weekend started with thirteen acts, including rugby boyband Try Star, journalist Martin Bashir, chat show host Ricki Lake and former Glee star Kevin McHale.

One of the most impressive performances however came from the Chase’s Jenny ‘the Vixen’ Ryan who tackled the 2014 Eurovision winning song ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’ by Conchita Wurst. The professional quizzer belted out the Austrian drag queen’s hit in a stunning sparkly silver dress with pyrotechnics and a fiery backdrop.

Despite having been eliminated in the previous round, the producers decided to bring Ryan back this weekend to the live shows. The were vindicated in their decision, as she proved popular with the public and sailed through to next week. Ricki Lake however was not as lucky. She received the fewest amount of votes from the public and was automatically eliminated. She performed the Stevie Nicks song ‘Landslide’.

Martin Bashir (who sang ‘Danke Schon’) and actress Olivia Olson (who gave a rendition of ‘Anyone Who Had a Heart’) were the acts who performed worst in the public vote of the remaining acts. It then went to the judges to decide their fate. Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh backed their own acts and ultimately it was Simon Cowell who saved Bashir, sending Olson home.

X-Factor Celebrity continues next weekend. Check out Jenny Ryan’s performance:
