We are just a month into Eurovision season and we have already got our second artist confirmed for Eurovision 2020! Last week Hooverphonic were revealed as Belgium‘s pick and now Spain have joined the fray announcing at the weekend that Blas Canto will represent them in Rotterdam next year.
Blas Canto is a popular Spanish artist, who already participated in the 2011 national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the successful band Auryn. They just missed out on representing Spain in Düsseldorf, finishing second with the song ‘Volver’. Blas became a household name in Spain after his participation in EuroJunior, the Spanish selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004. He has released four albums with the band Auryn and in 2018 released his debut solo album ‘Complicado’.
Blas says that, ‘It’s a longtime dream of mine. I dreamt of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since I was a child.’
For the past few years Spain has chosen its Eurovision artist and song through the reality TV singing contest Operacion Triunfo, a Fame Academy type singing show. However, in 2020 they have opted to choose their act through an internal selection process. The song will be revealed at a later date.
