Melfest is one of the most highly anticipated competitions of the Eurovision selection season. Today the Swedish broadcaster SVT announced the initial plans for the 2020 competition.
SVT have revealed that Melfest will once again take place over the space of six weeks with six different cities playing host to the four heats, the second chance show and the live final which as always will be held in Stockholm’s Friends Arena. The full line up is below:
Heat 1- Saab Arena (Linköping)
Heat 2- Scandinavium (Gothenburg)
Heat 3- Coop Norrbotten Arena (Luleå)
Heat 4- Malmö Arena (Malmö)
Second Chance- Stiga Sports Arena (Eskilstuna)
Final- Friends Arena (Stockholm)
The format sees two acts from each heat qualify directly to the final, while another two acts from each heat move to the second chance show where they battle it out for the remaining four spots in the Final. The final then consists of twelve songs.
One act has already been confirmed for Melfest 2020. Amanda Aasa who won the P:4 Nasta contest will compete, whereas the other 27 competitors are usually announced in December.
