Dance legend Darude teams up with Sebastian Rejman for the Finnish entry at Eurovision 2019. Take a look at what we thought of their track ‘Look Away’.

Who doesn’t love a dance artist whose biggest hit was almost twenty years ago making a big comeback and trying to reinvigorate a flagging career? Darude takes Sebastian Rejman along for the ride when they debuted three new tracks at the Finnish selection Show UMK a few months back. Of the three, ‘Look Away’ was easily the best.

But while ‘Look Away’ has depth, vocalising Rejman’s feelings while travelling in India and his encounters of the overwhelming homelessness problem, the song lacks a hook. Conversely Darude’s big hit ‘Sandstorm’ had no lyrics but that opening trance beat was instantly iconic and eternally memorable.

The staging for the song is interesting and sees a revolving cube which houses a static darude as he pretends to DJ the track. Meanwhile on the other sides of the cube there are different projection images, the most effective of which is the water one which gives the impression that the dancer who up intil now has been atop the box, plunges into the water. All the while Rejman is front and centre gives a shaky vocal performance.
