‘Proud’ is the Macedonian song for Eurovision 2019. It will be sung by returning artist Tamara Todevska. Find out what we made of her attempt by reading our review!

‘Proud’ takes use on a real musical journey. Piano keys. A message of female empowerment (coincidentally the song was released on International Women’s Day) evoked by the repetitio of ‘Girl’. Increasing building on the vocal until it ramps up on the chorus, to be taken down again with cello strings, only to hit out again on the second chorus.

I really commend ‘Proud’. The song is a masterpiece in songwriting and has a real theatricality to it. It is something that wouldn’t seem out of place on an Adele album. Unfortunately, it is just not my cup of tea.

Even more unfortunately for Tamara, she has been drawn to perform in semi final two right after the current favourite Duncan Laurence. Will this harm her chances at qualification (possibly for the seventh year in a row)?
