Finnish broadcaster YLE today announced that late ’90s/early ’00s dance act Darude is their pick for Eurovision 2019.
In a similar vein to last year their selection show UMK will see the artist present three possible entries for the Finnish public to choose from. One of the tracks will be released each week in the lead up to the final of UMK on 2 March, a live show hosted by 2013 Finnish representative Krista Siegfrids.
Darude is probably best known for his 2000 hit song ‘Sandstorm’ which entered the top 40 charts all over the world and even went platinum in the UK.
Promising to create the atmosphere and visuality of his DJ gigs on the Eurovision stage, Darude will perform his tracks with featured vocalist Sebastian Rejman, known from the band the Giant Leap, sure to bring a fresh vitality and admirable live element to Darude’s musical backdrop.
