Georgian Idol will serve as the nation’s Eurovision selection show for 2019. The first episode of the competition aired last night and already nine acts have made it through the first round of auditions.
Headed by an all star judging panel (Stephane Mgebrishvili, Natia Todua, Tinatin Berdzenishvili and Zaza Shengelia), the show kicked off with a bang. It saw nine acts make it to the next round and these include: Natia Nanobashvili, Giorgi Nakashidze, Mariam Dokvadze, Mariam Goguadze, Mariam Jordania, Tamar Lachkhepiani, Afik Navruzov, Ikako Aleqsidze and David Kalandadze.
The show will return next week when the first round of auditions will continue. The show will conclude with the live final on 2 March, where the winner will be chosen to represent Georgia at Eurovision 2019.
Georgia will be hoping to improve on their recent Eurovision attempts which saw them fail to qualify in 2018 and 2017 and come in 20th place in the final in 2016.
