Germany Reveal Six Acts for Unser Lied Fur Israel!

German broadcaster NDR this week revealed six artists who will take part in their Eurovision 2019 selection show: Unser Lied für Israel.

The list includes Voice of Germany contestants Linus Bruhn, Gregor Hägele and BB Thomaz, as well as Indie sensation Aly Ryan, retro pop songstress Lilly Among Clouds and singer-songwriter Makeda Purple.

This list is not final, as the broadcaster remain on the look out for another two potential artists to add to the list. While this may not happen, they do reserve the right to bring the total competing artists in the 2019 selection show to a maximum of eight.

The final of the show is scheduled to take place in February and will be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger and Linda Zervakis. While there is no official date set in stone just yet, in recent years Germany have hosted a mid-week final (usually a Thursday) in mid to late February. Tickets for the show are to go on sale in mid-January.

Although no song titles have been revealed, the artists have been hard at work in a week long songwriting boot camp that took place in Berlin this week. Songwriters in attendance include Tim Schou (Danish lead singer of A Friend in London, Eurovision 2011), BB Thomaz and Lilly Among Clouds (who will also compete as an artist this year) and Thomas Stengaard, Nisse Ingwersen and Nina Müller (the songwriting team behind Germany’s 2018 Eurovision song ‘You Let Me Walk Alone’).

Whoever Germany pick, they will be hoping to build on the success of 2018 when Michael Schulte’s song ‘You Let Me Walk Alone’ finished fourth with 340 points.
