Brendan Murray Makes it to X-Factor Quarter Finals!

Another week, and another weekend of X-Factor mediocrity. The show’s fifteenth series grinds on this weekend with its latest theme: Movie Night. Ten became eight as we coarse towards the quarter finals next weekend.

Another double elimination this weekend saw the end credits roll for duo and early favourites Misunderstood and former West End singer Giovanni Spano.

Misunderstood were the first to get the boot when they surprisingly finished bottom after the public vote. The sing off was then between the remaining bottom two acts Giovanni (who sang ‘Let Me Entertain You’) and Robbie Williams’ last remaining group Acacia & Aaliyah (who sang KC and JoJo’s ‘All My Life’). Despite Williams being absent for a second consecutive week, his stand in Nile Rodgers did his duty and saved Robbie’s act, as did fellow judges Louis Tomlinson and Simon Cowell. Williams’ wife Ayda Field chose to save her own act Giovanni, but this was in vain, as a three to one vote was enough to see her act eliminated.

Of the eight remaining acts, Irish Eurovision 2017 singer Brendan Murray lives to fight for another weekend. He impressed the audience voting at home with his version of ‘Everybody Hurts’ by REM from the film Bewitched. The acts through to the quarter finals are: Simon’s Girls (Shan, Scarlet and Bella), Louis’ Boys (Brendan, Anthony and Dalton), Robbie’s last remaining Group (Acacia and Aaliyah) and Ayda’s last remaining Over (Danny).

X-Factor will return on Saturday with Big Band Week. Special Guest performances are expected from Tom Walker and former X-Factor judge Cheryl is set to debut her new single ‘Love Made Me Do It’.
