Eric Saade, Sarah Dawn Finer, Marika Carlsson and Kodjo Akolor will host the Swedish Eurovision selection show Melodifestivalen when it returns to our screens in February 2019.The foursome were announced by the national broadcaster SVT at the weekend. Eric Saade has appeared as a Melfest contestant on three occasions (Manboy 2010, Popular 2011 and Sting 2015). Winning in the contest in 2011, he placed third at Eurovision later that year. He also presented the Contest’s green room activities in 2016 when he got into some bother when describing host Petra Mede as a hashtag M.I.L.F..
Also familiar to Melfest fans will be comedian/singer Sarah Dawn Finer who presented the show in both 2012 and 2016 and whose alter ego Lynda Woodruff appeared in several comic skits for Eurovision 2016.
Perhaps less well known to viewers outside of Sweden will be Marika Carlsson (stand up comedian) and Kodjo Akolor (Co-host of the Swedish version of the Got Talent franchise).
It is unclear if the line up will host individual shows or share duties across the six live shows. But with three comedians and Mr Saade’s penchant for trouble we are in for a great year. I predict even more tongue in cheek musical numbers and hilarious hijinks.
Now just to find out which singers will be competing!
