Irish Eurovision 2017 singer Brendan Murray has made it through to the live finals of the X-Factor series 15.He will join Dalton Harris, Armstrong Martins and Anthony Russell and will be mentored by Louis Tomlinson in the boys category.
The boys travelled to Ibiza in Saturday night’s episode where Louis called in the help of former One Direction band mate Liam Payne and disco producing legend and Chic frontman Nile Rodgers.
Brendan performed the Prince/Sinead O’Connor song ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, impressing the three judges. Liam Payne said Brendan was ‘really great, really great’ while Nile Rodgers remarked ‘I was holding back the tears’.
Meanwhile in the other categories Simon Cowell heads up the girls category: Scarlett Lee, Bella Penfold, Molly Scott and Shan.
The four groups A-Star, LMA Choir, Misunderstood and Vibe 5 are under the command of Robbie Williams.
And Williams’ wife Ayda Field is at the helm of the overs category which includes Janice Robinson, Giovanni Spano, Danny Tetley and Olatunji Yearwood
The live shows kick off from next week with sixteen acts battling it out for the prize of a million pound recording contract.
Brendan represented Ireland at Eurovision 2017 with the song ‘Dying to Try’. He failed to make it to the final. He has also been in the boy band Hometown which was managed by former X-Factor judge Louis Walsh. The six piece enjoyed some success in Ireland with two number one singles in the Irish charts.
