Macedonia almost didn’t make it to Eurovision in 2018 as a result of unpaid debts with the European Broadcasting Union. They’ve settled these arrears and have selected three piece band Eye Cue to represent them in Lisbon.

The real strength with the band is the lead vocalist Marija Ivanovska. Not only can the lady sing, but she oozes personality. You only have to watch the music video for the song to see that she commands the attention of the audience from start to finish. Even the brief moments when she isn’t on screen, you are waiting for her to reappear. She’s got some great looks in the video too- from her raunchy pink leather body suit to her amazing blazer come pant suit attire which has eyes embroidered on to it (a nod to the band’s name).

Her sex appeal is also undeniable. She coyly sways on a floral swing or lays seductively on a yellow bed while she sings how she can ‘show you how it’s done’. Wink, wink! Nudge, nudge! Pure filth! Love it! The more you listen to the lyrics the more you realise just how raunchy a song it is.

The band’s sound reminds me of a more mainstream, less quaint/folksy version of Naviband from last year for Belarus. Instead of folky acoustic guitars and yodelling, Eye Cue give us a reggaetron banger with some carribeats on drums and electric guitar. The song has really grown on me in the last few days and I especially post chorus refrain of ‘Have you ever thought about it? We went too far and now there’s no way back!’

I would love to see this song make it to the final, but think it may just be on the cusp of qualifying from the first semi final.
