Israel got another step closer to choosing their Eurovision participant for 2018 this evening when Israel’s Rising Star hosted another show which eliminated one more act, giving us a top nine. Getting eliminated this week was Shay and Giled aka the Yamanz.
Throughout December and January Spanish broadcaster RTVE have been airing the singing competition Operacion Triunfo, a Fame Academy-esque show where the 18 participants collaborate, write and perform together but then get eliminated one by one each week. Half way through the run, it was announced that the show would serve as the platform for the broadcaster to select the Spanish Eurovision contestant for 2018. This week, they announced the top five who will battle it out in the live Eurovision Gala Event on 29 January.
We’ve been waiting quite some time on an update from Serbia about their plans for their 2018 Eurovision selection plans. Despite rumours of a move from an internal selection to a national final as early as October 2017, it wasn’t until a few months later that these were confirmed to be true. Since the confirmation, no other details had been announced, until today when national broadcaster RTS revealed the seventeen acts and songs that will compete in the contest.
