Sixteen solo singers are currently competing in the Spanish competition due to air its final on 29 January. It is currently unclear whether the broadcaster will choose a solo artist, a duet or whether they will form a group from the competing contestants nor is it clear if the artist will be internally selected after the final or if there will be a national final after the show has concluded.
This is not the first time that the show has been used to select the Spanish entry for Eurovision. From 2002 to 2004 it was used to select Rosa Lopez (‘Europe’s Living a Celebration, 7th, 2002), Beth (‘Dime’, 8th, 2003) and Ramon (‘Para llenarme de ti’, tenth, 2004) and Sorata Arnelas (‘La noche es para mi’, 24th, 2009).
