Belarus become the latest nation to outline their plans for selecting their Eurovision act for the 2018 Contest. The national broadcaster BTRC confirmed that they will continue with a selection show for 2018.Submissions are now opened for both Belarusian and foreign artists register their interest in representing the nation and will close on 26 December.
The process will consist of two rounds. The first of these will be a live audition where competitors will perform in from of a specially selection jury of industry professionals. Up to fifteen acts will then be chosen to advance to the live national final where a 50/50 split of jury votes and public televote will decide the winner.
The results of the live audition round is expected to be revealed on or before 14 January while it is expected that the national live final will take place no later than 1 March.
Belarus have had mixed results at Eurovision with Navi Band qualifying for the final last year and finishing in 17th place. This was their first time qualifying for the final in three years. Their best ever result was at the hands of Dmitry Koldun in 2007 with ‘Work Your Magic. The song finished in sixth place.
