San Marino’s quest to find a Eurovision star for 2018 got under way last month with the launch of the online selection process 1in360. The website and broadcaster have released a long list of applicants who have progressed to the next stage and there are a few familiar faces among the contenders.
Over 150 artists are included on the long list including submissions from singers from other European countries including Italy, France, United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland and Turkey, as well as submissions from nations as far reaching as Bangladesh, Thailand and Ghana. Some familiar faces feature on the website including former San Marino Eurovision representative Anita Simoncini and Eurovision selection show alumni Karl William Lund (UK, 2016), Emma (Finland, 2017) Syuzanna Melqonyan (Armenia, 2017), Franklin Calleja (Malta, 2017), Nicole Azzopardi (JESC Malta, 2010) and Dinah Nah (Sweden, 2015 & 2017).
The organisers of the San Marinese selection process also announced this week that one of the three potential wildcard picks will ensure that at least one contestant from San Marino will be included on the shortlist of ten.
You can now listen to all the submission on the 1in360 website and vote for your favourite. The top ten acts are expected to be revealed in the new year, when the competition will move to a series of live shows which will be broadcast online.
