True to form the Dutch national broadcaster AVROTROS stuck to their internal selection process for Eurovision 2018. They announced today in their usual November slot that former Common Linnets vocalist Waylon will return to Eurovision in 2018 to represent the Netherlands.
Waylon represented the Netherlands as part of duo the Common Linnets in 2014. The band finished in second place with their country song ‘Calm After the Storm’. Although the band count celebs such as Kiefer Sutherland among their fan base, Waylon left the band to focus on solo material.
His former band mate Ilse DeLange has relocated to home of Country music Nashville and recently began fronting Dutch music show Ilse’s Veranda. The show sees Ilse pair up with a different Dutch singer each week and she interviews and performs a duet with them on the show.
Few details are known as of yet which song Waylon will perform at Eurovision, however if AVROTROS follow the format of recent years, we can expect a song reveal in February/March 2018.
