Bulgarian national broadcaster BNT took to twitter today to confirm that they will internally select their Eurovision 2018 candidate. Internal selection has been the preferred option for Bulgaria since they returned to Eurovision in 2016 after a two year hiatus due to financial difficulties.
Internal selection seems to be working for Bulgaria as 2016 and 2017 have given them their best ever results with Poli Genova coming fourth with ‘If Love Was a Crime’ in 2016 and Kristian Kostov finishing second last year with ‘Beautiful Mess’.
BNT’s statement said:
More details regarding their process will be revealed soon, but if the last two years are anything to go by we can expect the artist announcement in February with the song reveal the following month. The broadcaster is expected to reveal details of the submission process in the next few weeks and the submitted entries will then be shortlisted and a final decision made by an internal jury.
