The Swedish national broadcaster SVT expanded on their announcement a few weeks ago when they announced further details of the plans for Melodifestivalen 2018.
We already knew that the format would stick rigidly to the successful process that has been in place for a number of years. Four heats will take place at a number of arena venues in cities throughout Sweden, followed by a second chance show and a live final consisting of 12 qualifying songs.
This week SVT also revealed that David Lindgren will return to present the live shows. Lindgren hosted last year but shared the duties with Hasse Andersson and Clara Henry. Lindgren is known for his tongue in cheek, comedic presenting style and even shared an impromptu kiss with eventual winner Robin Bengtsson during the live results.
We can expect a return of the parody music numbers in 2018 because as well as being a presenters, Lindgren is a seasoned performer and has even competed in Melfest on three occasions (2012, 2013 and 2016).
Although there has not been any official confirmation yet, the rumour mill has begun regarding possible contestants for Melfest 2018. Among them is our favourite pop duo Samir and Viktor who have reformed after a short hiatus, and 2017 Melfest alumni Benjamin Ingrosso and Felix from
