Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG have reportedly decided a change in tact for Eurovision 2018. Moving away from their internal selection method which they have employed since 2009. The broadcaster will instead launch a remounted selection show entitled Montevizija for 2018.
Exact details of what we can expect from the 2018 edition of Montevizija are not firmed up at present. However we can expect further details on 1 November and the song submissions will be opened to artists and songwriters from mid-December.
What is known is that we can expect an jury of five industry professionals to select the five songs from the submitted entries to compete in the final of Montevizija. The five selected songs will compete in the national final expected to take place on 17 February, the winner being decided by the voting public.
Montenegro haven’t had the greatest track record at Eurovision with just two final qualifications from their nine attempts, their best placing being thirteenth for Knez with ‘Adio’ in 2015. They will be hoping that this selection shake up will pay off and can give them their best ever result for their tenth attempt!
